Jess & Lisa – Vietnam Trip – September 2025

We were fortunate to have been offered an amazing trip to Vietnam with Wendy Wu tours. We flew from Birmingham Airport with Turkish Airlines with a short layover in Istanbul, before heading on to Saigon Airport.

Ho Chi Minh City

We spent the first 3 Nights of our trip in Ho Chi Minh City. We were greeted at the airport by our wonderful Wendy Wu Tour Guide, Trung. We were then transferred to our hotel – 4* Muong Thanh Saigon in the heart of the city which took around 45 minutes from the airport. We then were taken for dinner to a stunning Michelin Star restaurant called Hoa Tuc where we enjoyed a set menu of Vietnamese cuisine.

The following day, we started with a tour around the local park called Le Van Tam Park where we saw locals taking part in Dance Classes, Thai Chi classes and lots of people exercising or using the parks gym facilities. The Vietnamese people like to stay fit and enjoy the green areas in the city. Following this, we then travelled around 1 ½ hours to the Cu Chi Tunnels where we had a guided tour around the site, learning about how they were used in the Vietnam War, serving as strategic underground basis. After this, we were taken to a local organic farm for lunch where we toured the farm and enjoyed some of the local produce for lunch. We then headed back into the city for a tour of the Reunification Palace which was home and workplace of the president of Vietnam and we learned about the history behind it. We then were taken to the famous Notre Dam Cathedral which is currently being restored, and we also visited the famous Central Post Office where we picked up some postcard souvenirs! Following that, we then went to a local coffee shop for a short Coffee Making class where we learned about Vietnamese Coffee (and tasted how strong it is!). Vietnam is the second biggest coffee exporter in the world! After a super busy day, we were taken for dinner to a restaurant called House Saigon – this villa belonged to the third President of Vietnam and has now been turned into a restaurant.

The next day after breakfast, we drove 2 and a half hours down to the picturesque province of Ben Tre, situated along the Mekong Delta, known as the ‘Rice Basket of Vietnam’, because its rich and fertile lands produce huge amounts of rice, coconuts, vegetables and tropical fruit. We spent the day cruising and exploring, from fish farms to bee farms, tasting local honeycomb and honey wine. We then were fortunate to visit a traditional local home where we were shown round the home and offered local fruit & green tea. We then headed down the canal on a small rowing boat and visited another local home, where we learned about how the family produce and sell shitake mushrooms, which we tried – deep fried with fish sauce! We then were taken by golf buggy to Hai Phong Pomelo Garden where we had a huge lunch, including Vietnamese Banh Khot. Following lunch, we visited a local lady who produces Rice Wine, we sampled some of the homegrown rice wine – we steered well away from the Snake Wine! We then headed back to Ho Chi Min for a tour of a local market, a Chinese Temple, the Flower Market and also a Street Food Market – here we tried Avocado Smoothie with Coconut Ice cream. Our evening meal was at a local restaurant called Hoi An Street where we sampled more traditional Vietnamese cuisine.

Mui Ne Beach

After a busy few days in the city, we made a 3 hour transfer to Mui Ne which is a beach town along the Southeast coast of Vietnam. We stayed at the beautiful 5* The Cliff Resort which was amazing! It is located on a beautiful stretch of white sand beach with lots of water sports on offer as well as lovely beach club at the hotel. We upgraded our room to an Oceanfront Terrace Room with outdoor Jacuzzi which was a very nice treat after a busy few days in the city. There are 2 infinity swimming pools, one with swim up bar, a gym, spa, games room and a small mini market. The resort has a lovely restaurant that offers all types of cuisine to suit everyone, from Western food to traditional dishes. The staff here are so friendly and will do anything for you. We couldn’t recommend it enough.

The resort of Mui Ne offers a good choice of restaurants / shops and is a lovely town to stroll around. There are a few excursions / attractions on offer including;

  • Mui Ne Sand Dune Jeep Tour & Sand Boarding
  • Fairy Stream
  • Ke Ga Lighthouse
  • Fish Sauce Museum
  • Thuy Tu Temple
  • Po Sah Inu Towers.

Overall, we had the most amazing trip with the most informative Tour Guide who made our experience in the city unforgettable. A massive thank you to Wendy Wu for such a memorable trip, we are very grateful to have experienced Southern Vietnam 😊
