I was lucky enough to go to Majorca with ITC holidays for a 4 day trip to stay at the Luxury 5* Jumeirah Port Soller for 2 nights and the 5* Park Hyatt in Canyamel for 2 nights.

When we arrived, we were taken to our First hotel the 5* Jumeirah Port Soller, the Jumeirah chain of hotels are UAE based and they had the same feel here, as all the female staff where dressed in an Arab style.

We were quickly greeted and had our bags taken whilst we were waiting to check in. Check in was smooth and we had a lovely glass of complementary orange juice which tasted amazing. After showing us to our room our bags arrived shortly afterwards. I had a superior room which in fact is their lead in room, the view from the terrace of the mountains was breath taking and there was a lovely complimentary bottle of wine, some dates and oranges. The room had a sitting area and open plan bathroom with a separate toilet. It was spacious and had a glorious view of the sunrise in the mornings. All the rooms are state of the art so lights, do not disturb and curtains are controlled from a panel each side of the bed.

There are 2 pools for you to use, one is the family pool and then they have an adult’s only infinity pool with amazing sea views. The hotel also has a spa with a Sauna steam room, salt room, ice room and a big Jacuzzi pool outside which gives you great views of the mountains.

For Breakfast you had a choice of buffet or table service or both if you felt hungry, which could be taken outside or in the main restaurant, we also ate in the tapas restaurant one evening which I would highly recommend, and also in the Cap Roig restaurant. The Cap Roig, named after a delicious local fish known for its bright red colour and intense flavour, is Jumeirah’s exclusive Mediterranean restaurant and enjoys a unique cliff-front location offering dramatic sea views over the Mediterranean.

We also walked down into Port Soller which is a 10 minute walk down hill, once into the port there is an abundance of shops bars and restaurant and a beach for you to spend your day. There is also a tram that will take you from the port to the town of Soller. The Jumeirah offers these tickets complementary.

We then took the drive from the Soller to Canyamel for our 2nd two nights at the 5* deluxe Park Hyatt.

This beautiful resort located on the far north east part of the island of Mallorca is truly a little bit of heaven away from the madding crowd of Palma It’s a one hour drive from the airport and the hotel is built into the side of a hill. If you plan to explore the area, which is well worth doing, you will need a car or you can hire a private driver. The hotel will drive you back and forth to the beautiful small town of Canyamel where there is a gorgeous beach with a great beach bar/restaurant and they’ll even drive you down at night to one of the restaurants, though they have several restaurants on site.

The resort is beautifully laid out so it never feels that there is lots of people there, Sitting on my balcony in the evening watching the sun set was just perfect. Such tranquillity.

It’s always the little touches that make a difference and the staff go out of their way to ensure you are satisfied, when going to the beach, they provided a lovely basket with beach towels and cold waters.

There are a selection of restaurants, there we ate in the Thai and the tapas restaurants, I would recommend them both, the food tasted great and the service was excellent.

These two hotels go to prove that you can still find luxury accommodation in serene surroundings on an island that so many people associate with mass tourism.
